Case Study: United Rentals

Peersuasion worked with The Gate Worldwide to create an integrated Flash microsite and referral marketing platform for United Rentals, the largest equipment rental company in the world. Part sweepstakes, part referral platform, the immersive, Flash-based site provides a rich user experience customized for both clients and employees. The Peersuasion referral program builds the opt-in base of contractors and other prospects, and communicates with employees throughout North America.

The "Consider It Won" program provides an entertaining, informative look at the company’s advertising messaging, which can be accessed in English, French and Spanish. The referral component offers prizes for customers and prospects as well as an employee contest. The customer platform incentivizes current customers to send information to friends with a chance to win tickets to the sporting event of their choice (Superbowl, World Series, Stanley Cup or Indy Car Finals). The employee platform asks employees to help write the next United Rentals ad by describing a scenario where they helped customers "Consider It Done" by providing exceptional customer service.

Both the contractor and employee referral elements include survey questions, and both are offered in English, French and Spanish. Media includes email outreach, advertising in trade publications online and offline, and email transmission to United Rentals opt-ins and employees.

The "Consider It Won" program is a good example of how Peersuasion integrates with Web content and a national advertising campaign to create a seamless, branded environment that generates and measures results for multiple audiences.
